“Count Me Out” is a song from our recent project “Oakland Ave” about perseverance and self-preservation even through times of suffering. The lyrics, “Never count me out,” are the response to when we feel slept on or undervalued. It’s to say, when you put me in a box, I will destroy that box and always find a new way to be seen/feel heard. Visually we chose to represent that constant need to internally evolve with black and white images of us exercising as well as doing what we do best, rapping, while the color explodes onto the screen in the glitch effects, matching the production style, also complimenting the idea of surmounting our struggles via art. The powerful production by GetMoses home these intense feelings with an explosive sound and the distorted, glitchy shrieks play into the idea of pushing one’s own limits.
